ABOUT HENRY NEILSEN

Henry is an Aurealis award nominated sci-fi/horror writer, musician and recovering tech enthusiast based in Melbourne, Australia. His work has been featured in Aurealis Magazine and TL;DR press, and he self-published his first novel in early 2025. His stories usually interrogate the conceit of technology as a saviour, and focus on the characters who aren’t the benefactors of technological progress.

He is a quorum member of Meridian Australis, a speculative fiction collective in Melbourne, and is passionate about lifting the speculative fiction scene in Melbourne and Australia more broadly. He is an anti-generative AI advocate, and writes cultural and technological critique essays on his Substack.

When not writing, Henry can be found playing tunes on his baritone guitar, talking someone's ear off about something nerdy, or staying up too late to watch Formula One.
